Handmade Plushies 🧸

I make custom plushies on request, along with hand-picked patterns to make for markets so my plushies don’t look like anyone around me. Loads of love and hours go into each design to ensure they can be part of your lives forever.

I offer complimentary yearly cleaning on plushies I make, because every toy deserves to stay in the front of the shelf and not the bottom of the cupboard. ❤️

If you’re in South Africa, you can order a custom plushie from me (that I ship anywhere in South Africa 🇿🇦), and hopefully, soon you can attend markets to see my work in action.

Pattern designing 🪡

I have found myself making quite a few plushies without following instructions or just changing something completely and deciding to go my route. I’ve found this freedom gives a boost of dopamine to my brain, and I can’t get enough of it.

My first plushie is called Sam. When I was little, we were asked by a monkey sanctuary to foster a small monkey found on the side of the road. I have fond memories of him, and somehow I ended up creating a monkey so I believe fate wanted it to be full circle.

This only sparked my interest to continue designing more patterns and fuel my creativity. ✨🤍

A little history about how I got here.

I picked up a crochet hook for the first time in late 2024 as a hobby. I was going through a difficult period in my life, and I read that crochet is very therapeutic for the mind. I realized I wouldn’t be able to continue my normal 9 to 5 that I’ve always known because my life was changed forever by my two autoimmune diseases.

With all that going on, I’m sure you can understand my strong motives. I didn’t need any further convincing, so I drove to the craft shop my mom always went to and bought the only set of crochet hooks they had, and two balls of yarn, which I now know are called skeins. 🤭

I struggled for weeks on the first bit, the magic ring. When I finally found an alternative method that worked better for me, I was crocheting away, and nothing could stop me. I knew I was capable of creating something I could feel proud of. I didn’t give up, and a few hours later, I crafted my first amigurumi, a frog. That’s all I needed. I was hooked. Literally.

Then my aunt asked me for a plushie for her granddaughter and grandson for Christmas, and although I knew this was more than I could do at the time, I was determined. So I did my rough costing, went to the yarn shop, stocked up, and started. I finished a bunny and a snake within a few days and shipped them out to her. A few days later, she sent me a review of how the kids reacted. Then I had another client, and I hope to have a positive name in my local community.

Since then I am determined to work my ass off so I can build a sustainable income for myself and my family in the future, without needing to rely on a 9-to-5 in a third world country.

With the release of my new pattern, I feel even more inspired to create designs and enough stock so I can attend my first market and take you on the journey with me. My ideal outlook with my business is attending markets on a regular basis so I have a consistent way to have customers, and also release patterns quarterly until I am more experienced. My biggest goal for now is a surprise, but trust me when I say it’s a life-changing thing. I need to work hard to get there, but I am a determined soul. Just watch me.
